A post to educate the masses

"------------Sumer is not spelled wrong, idiot."

Hello!
This post is just to let you know that Sumer is not summer as in the season.
Sumer is an ancient Mesopotamian civilisation.

Now I hope that the maintainer of this community is not a native English speaker.
Because the irony of a “spelling freak” being corrected by someone who speaks English merely as a forth language is just sad.

I would advice removing Sumer from the interest list, it can be counterproductive to this community’s pursuit of self-gratification.

Tata!

you raise a good point, but it is possible that there are plenty of people who aren't referring to "Sumer" and are actually trying to spell "summer".

it's sort of like trying to say "dying" but typing "dyeing" instead. It wouldn't surprise me if either one has been mistaken for the other in people's interests.

Anyway... I'm just sayin'
I just find it ridiculous that any slightly educated human being researching communities on Sumer will end up getting a “you can’t spell you idiot” comment.
I also find it ridiculously pompous and pretentious to make a community such as this one and to use an insulting phrase as a descriptive statement.

This community is supposed to point out to what? Today’s impoverished intellects? Well resorting to insults and lack of decency both derive from a mediocre intellect.
yeah, it's definitely not the greatest name for the community. And unfortunately the moderator hasn't commented or done anything, probably since she first created the community. So pretty much no one can change anything, we can just sorta laugh at stupid spelling errors in order for us to receive some sort of ego boost, proving that once again we are better than all those other fools who can't spell.
Don't worry about it.
My post is only aimed at the maintainer.
fair enough.
In fact, if you just look at the community's profile, it even notes the difference between the season and the Mesopotamian city-state.
That's funny I didn't care enough to view the profile.
yet you cared enough to join the community and make an entry? I'm confused.
Thats what I call sarcasm, don't be confused.
it's hard to tell online.
I lol'ed that you got so worked up over this. Your sense of humor died when you went goth emo.

And I highly doubt making threats is in your best interest.
There can be goth PLUS emo? I am so old. When I was a teenager, we didn't have either. We had sort of a melange, without the titles, and, in most cases, without the makeup. We did have The Cure, though.

Oh, regarding your icon..... Raaaaaar.
Don't you dare call the cure emo :/
They weren't called either term, back in the day.

I got the impression that they became known as a goth band sometime in the 90s. I haven't really paid attention to anything they've done since the 80s.
Well actually the very term goth was born in the 80s to describe bands such as the cure, bahaus, banshees and co.
Of course the 90s saw a popularisation of the term goth and from there it started labelling spooky suburban kids and suicidals alike.
As for emo :/ that’s like a 14 years old angry kid without musical taste.
You lol'ed?
That's what I call shooting yourself in the leg.

LOL
lol
Don't be so hard on yourself

"Forth"--as in going forward, perhaps?
"Fourth"--after a third object in a series.
I believe you mean the latter but typed the former.

civilisation: while sometimes used as a synonym for civilization, it is usually used to mean: The social process whereby societies achieve civilization, not civilization itself.

No, civilization also refers to both the meanings you mentioned. Civilisation is just a British English alternative.
